We believe that dance should be an enjoyable journey, and our Amber program provides the perfect balance of structure, challenge, and playful learning. Dancers are encouraged to explore their abilities, try new movements, and express themselves through dance, all while building coordination, strength, and performance skills.




Our Ballet program is a beautiful introduction to dance for young learners, focusing on movement, music, and the foundations of classical ballet. Students are gently guided through basic positions, posture, and arm movements in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Ballet is wonderful for children as it helps develop strength, coordination, flexibility, balance, and musicality, while also building confidence, focus, and body awareness from a young age.
Alongside technique, dancers explore creativity through music, storytelling, and imaginative movement, encouraging self-expression and a love of ballet.

In our Hip Hop Program, Year One students are introduced to the fundamentals of hip-hop dance. From basic grooves to simple footwork, the program offers a fun and age-appropriate introduction to the vibrant culture of hip-hop.

Our Jazz Dance Program for Year One students is a lively and fun introduction to dance, where rhythm, creativity, and expression take centre stage. Jazz dance is a great way for children to develop coordination, balance, flexibility, and motor skills, while also building confidence, musicality, and a love of movement. This program focuses on enjoyment and self-expression, helping young dancers discover the joy and energy of jazz.
Our Acro program is a dynamic and engaging introduction to the world of acrobatics, designed to help young dancers develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness in a safe and supportive environment. Students will explore tumbling, balancing, and foundational acro skills, progressing at a pace that suits their individual abilities.
Through fun, age-appropriate exercises and guided practice, children not only build physical strength and flexibility but also gain confidence, focus, and resilience. Our program encourages creativity, encourages risk-taking in a safe setting, and fosters a love of movement, helping young dancers experience the excitement and joy of acrobatics.
Our Acro Contemporary classes combine the strength and technique of acrobatics with the fluidity and expression of contemporary dance. Students learn to move seamlessly from floor to standing and back again, turning rolls, handstands, and bridges into leaps, turns, and flowing lines. The focus is on control, strength, and creativity, helping dancers build confidence, coordination, and artistic expression with every movement. Each class encourages students to explore their own style while mastering challenging skills, fostering both discipline and imagination. Our program is a delightful introduction to the magical world of musical theatre, where singing, acting, and dancing come together to create a captivating performance experience. In our Musical Theatre Classes, students will embark on a journey to become triple threats—mastering the art of singing, acting, and dancing. Our program provides a well-rounded approach to performing arts, allowing students to explore and develop skills in all three disciplines.
In our Junior Tap Classes, young dancers will step into the world of tap dance, exploring basic steps, rhythms, and movements. The program provides a playful and age-appropriate introduction to the art form, ensuring an enjoyable learning experience. Tap dance is all about rhythm and sound. Our program encourages young dancers to explore different beats, tempos, and musical patterns through their footwork. Tap shoes become instruments, allowing children to create their own musical beats.
Our Cheer Dance Program is a lively and engaging introduction to the fundamentals of cheerleading, designed for young dancers to learn basic cheers, chants, and arm movements in a fun and age-appropriate environment. Students will develop rhythm, coordination, and confidence while exploring the energetic world of cheer.
Cheer is all about teamwork, positivity, and supporting others. Through group activities, partner work, and simple routines, children learn to work together, celebrate each other’s achievements, and experience the joy of being part of a spirited team. This program fosters confidence, self-expression, and a love of movement, all while keeping the focus on fun and enjoyment.
In our Contemporary Dance Program, students will delve into the fundamentals of contemporary dance. From expressive movements to fluid transitions, we provide a playful and age-appropriate introduction to this captivating dance form. Contemporary dance is renowned for its emphasis on self-expression and emotion. Our program encourages Year Two students to explore their creativity through movement. With imaginative play, creative exercises, and simple choreography, they'll have the opportunity to express themselves in a fun and supportive environment.

Our Competition Classes are by invitation or enquiry only and are designed for dancers ready to commit to a team environment. Students must also be enrolled in ballet and technical classes, which provide the essential foundation for strong technique and well-rounded skills.
These classes focus on mastering choreography, refining technique, and building confidence, while emphasising the importance of teamwork, commitment, and supporting fellow dancers. Being part of a competition team teaches discipline, collaboration, and the rewards of working together toward a shared goal..

As such, our fee structure reflects our commitment to quality education and a nurturing dance environment. Our fees are designed to be competitive and affordable, ensuring that dance education remains accessible to all.
We offer various payment options for different financial situations, including monthly instalments and discounts for siblings or multiple classes. Additionally, we understand the importance of transparency when it comes to fees, which is why we provide detailed breakdowns of costs, including tuition, costumes, and competition fees.
Please note fees are $11 per class until you reach the capped fee.
* Additionally, CMDA charges a one-off, non-refundable registration fee of $25 per student for life. Once this fee is paid, you won’t be asked to pay it again.We believe in the value of investing in your child’s dance education and are proud to provide exceptional instruction at Cathy Makin Dance Academy.
